One of the two Romanians injured in the March 22 London attacks is still in a critical condition, Romanian Ambassador to the United Kingdom Dan Mihalache said on Thursday. The British Ambassador to Romania Paul Brummell thanked Romanians for their messages of solidarity and compassion following the deadly attacks in the British capital.

According to Mihalache, representatives of the Consular Department of the Embassy of Romania to London visited the hospital where the victims of the March 22 attack are receiving treatment. “Right now, the state of the two Romanians injured is as follows: the woman is in a critical state, because it has multiple injuries and a problem with the functioning of the lungs. The previous night she underwent a pretty complex surgery […] Fortunately, she survived well this procedure and was moved to other hospital […] Her state is still critical, but we hope she will overcome it. The man is still in a good state, has a foot fracture. But he is in a state of psychological shock,” Mihalache said.

We will be in permanent dialogue with the doctors and hope that this critical state will be overcome. We are in dialogue with the authorities,” the Romanian diplomat said.

On Wednesday Paul Brummell posted a message on his Twitter account thanking Romanian s for their messages of support in the aftermath of the deadly attack. “Thank you #Romania for your messages of sympathy & support following today’s appalling events in London. My thoughts & prayers with the Romanian citizens injured in the dreadful attacks in London today & their families. We stand together,” he wrote.

It is important to also be close to their families, to do what we can to help them,” Romanian PM Sorin Grindeanu said, speaking from Piatra Neamt. He also expressed his hope that the victim who is critically will recover.

On Wednesday, Westminster Bridge London was the scene of an attack that left 40 injured and killed four, including a police officer. Two Romanian citizens, a man and a woman, were among the victims. The attacker drove into the crowd on Westminster Bridge before reaching the Houses of Parliament, where he fatally stabbed a police officer.
