Orange acquires the biggest pay TV player from the Republic of Moldova

Orange Moldova, the biggest mobile operator from Republic of Moldova closed an agreement to acquire 100 percent shares from the cable television services operator Sun Communications, marking the entrance of the company on the fixed and payed television market from this country.

„Sun Communications acquisition is part of the Orange strategy to consolidate its position of convergent operator in Europe, offering internet services on a wide-band, of fixed and mobile telephone services, as well as payed television services,” says an Orange release.

Orange hasn’t revealed the transaction value until now.

Sun Communications is the biggest pay television operator from Republic of Moldova, considering the number of subscribers. The company supplies digital and cable television services under SunTV brand to the customers from Chisinau, Balti and Cahul.

In Romania, Orange is the biggest player on the mobile telephone services market, having over 1,009 million customers on March 31 and revenues of EUR 935.5 million.
