Overall transactions’ value of Bucharest Stock Exchange up by 24 pct to over EUR 3 bln in 2017

The overall transactions’ value of Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) increased year-on-year by 24 percent to over EUR 3 billion in 2017 and by over 28 percent over the average of the last 10 years, according to a release of the institution.

Last year were made four initial public offers (IPO) of over EUR one quarter of billion and 9 corporate bonds issues in RON and EUR, at BVB.

“BVB registered in 2017 one of the most dynamic years ever. Four private companies’ IPOs were on BVB last year and was registered the biggest IPO of a private company, a record of the local capital market,” says the source.

DIGI Communications was the first company listed in 2017, once with the sale of a stake of 25.6 percent from shares worth RON 944 million, which represents the biggest IPO made by a private company on BVB. Afterwards, AAGES sold 15 percent of the shares for RON 5.5 million, Transilvania Broker de Asigurare sold 25 percent of the shares for RON 9 million and Sphera Franchise Group sold 25 percent of the shares for RON 285 million.

The capitalization of all listed companies on the main BVB market reached a record level of EUR 35 billion in 2017, taking into account that the stock capitalization of Romanian companies listed on BVB increased year-on-year by 20 percent in 2017 and reached close to EUR 20 billion.

The average daily values transacted on all kinds of  financial instruments reached in 2017 to EUR  12.1 million, an year-on-year growth by 25 percent. The daily average shares transacted increased year-on-year by 32 percent and reached the maximum of the last 3 years.

“The financing cost is expected to grow in 2018, therefore more and more companies can take into account the IPO,” said Lucian Anghel, president BVB.

In 2017 for the first time was possible the direct discount in EUR currency.
