Romanian Prime Minister Mihai Tudose has recalled Romanian consul to Lisbon Alina Dociu for mismanagement in the case of Romanian passengers of two airplanes whose outbound trip to Bucharest was cancelled today.

Two Lisbon-Bucharest flights operated by TAP Portugal were cancelled and no other alternatives were offered to those onboard, according to ANAT head Alin Burcea. “We believe it is a massive lack of respect towards the tourist agencies they collaborate with and especially towards the tourists whose return from their trip is delayed. We do not have any official information on the situation, we do not know what to tell our tourists who are calling and ask for explanations and help,” Burcea said.

In a message posted on his Facebook page Monday evening, Romanian PM Tudose said he was in contact with the Romanian tourists who are stuck on Lisbon airport, with the Portuguese authorities as well as with the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. “I hope the situation will be solved as soon as possible,” Tudose wrote.

Not least, I asked for the consul to Lisbon to be recalled, for the mismanagement of this case. The role of a consul is that to protect in the state it is posted to the interests of the Romanian citizens and to offer help and assistance,” Tudose wrote.
