Freight traffic in Galati, Braila and Tulcea ports went down in the first semester of the year to 3.44 million tonnes, compared with the same period of 2016, when it registered 4.21 million tonnes, according to the Sea Danube Harbors Administration (ADPM) Galati.
The traffic in the ports administered by APDM Galati was approximately 3.4 million tonnes, lower by 770,000 tonnes compared with the same period of 2016, affected also by the fact that during January-February the Danube was covered by ice and had a low debit.
“Thus, during January-February 2017 CN APDM SA Galati registered a freight traffic lower by 45 percent compared with the first 2 months of 2016. Although in the next 4 months the traffic registered a positive trend, the drop in stone products traffic from Tulcea and Braila ports couldn’t be recovered, registering a drop by 771,054 tonnes in the first six months,” said APDM Galati.
Thus, in Galati port the traffic was of 1.98 million tonnes operated freight, in Braila port 562,689 tonnes and in Tulcea 892,276 tonnes in the first semester. The Galati port registered 830 ships, in Braila there were 366 and in Tulcea 400.
The biggest quantities of freight in the three ports were cereals – 119,781 tonnes, laminars-424,500 tones, raw mineral products – 892,073 tonnes, steel minerals – 845,122 tonnes and solid fuels – 266,244 tonnes.
