Prince Charles begins official visit to Romania

Prince Charles begins on Wednesday its official three-day visit to Romania. In the first day of the visit he will be decorated by president Klaus Iohannis with the Grand Cross of the Star of Romania during a ceremony at Cotroceni Palace.

The visit to Romania is the first of a European Tour that Prince Charles will start on Wednesday and will end April 6.

The prince will conclude his visit to Romania on Friday.

The Romanian president and Prince Charles will have a private discussion, as well as discussions with the delegations’ members.

According to the presidential corps, the talks will focus on the development and strengthening of the strategic partnership relation between Romania and UK, including in the security field, evolution of the relation between the two countries regarding the Brexit, with an emphasis on the Romanian community situation in UK, as well as the charity activity developed in Romania by Charles.

President Iohannis and Prince Charles also met at Cotroceni Palace in May 2015 and May 2016 during private visits.

This is the second official visit of Charles in Romania since 1998.

Prince Charles has two properties in Romania: one in Valea Zalanului (Covasna), open to tourists and another one in Viscri (Brasov), where the Foundation of Wales Prince is located, and a training center for apprentices and handcraft men and architecture students from Romania.
