Relocation program First rent put up for debate in Romania

The application norms for the First rent program through which the unemployed that secure a job at more than 50 km from their home locality receive a relocation package were put up for debate at the Labor and Social Justice Ministry.

„The Government program 2017-2020 stipulates that at the chapter „Public policies in Labor Ministry and Social Justice”, the introduction of “Prima chirie” program aiming to stimulate the workforce mobility. As a result, the proposal of the Labor and Social Justice Ministry, the Romanian Government approved in January 2017 the emergency ordinance 6/2017 for the change and completion of some normative acts as well as for the establishment of some measures regarding the investments financed from public funds, published in the Official Monitor 62/25.01.2017” says the document of the Ministry.

According to the document, the relocation bonus is given from the insurance budget for unemployment for the unemployed persons registered at the agencies for workforce occupancy that who work at more than 50 km from their recorded home.

„The relocation bonus is given to the person whose net monthly incomes made by them in the conditions when the single persons or together with their families exceed RON 5,000/month and cumulated has 75 percent of the amount for housing expenses (rent and utilities) in the new domicile or new house, but not more than RON 900. The relocation bonus is given monthly at request for a period more than 36 months, if the persons requiring this right are in the legal labor framework full time for a period of at least 12 months,” says the document.
