Renault: Logan MCV will be made in factories from Mioveni and Tanger starting 2017

Renault Group will produce the Logan MCV model in the factories from Mioveni and Tanger, starting the first quarter of 2017, said the company on Wednesday, according to Agerpres.

The French car maker said the decision is determined by the success of Duster model, which needs a spare production capacity at Mioveni.

“Due to the success of Duster model, the Mioveni factory will have to respond to the high commercial demand  for this model (the second one from its segment, especially in Europe). The Renault group will produce Logan MCV also in the factory from Tanger, Morocco, aiming to free a production capacity for Duster,” said the officials.

The company’s representatives say that the decision doesn’t have any impact neither on the Mioveni factory organization, nor on the activity and employees from Romania.

The French publication ‘L’Usine Nouvelle’ wrote on Wednesday that Renault’s factory from Tanger will start producing the fourth car model, Logan break, next year, which until now was produced only at the Romanian plant.

“For this, additional investments will be needed, of approximately EUR 20 million, in the plant where we have already invested EUR 1.2 billion,” said the Renault Tanger director, Jean-François Gal.
