Research& Innovation minister Lucian Georgescu and professor Gheorghe Popa, president of the Universities Association, have signed a financing contract worth EUR 41.4 million with minister delegated for European funds Rovana Plumb for international scientific database access, through the Competitiveness Operational Program.

Besides the international scientific database access, the aim is also to increase the commitment level of Romanian research environment to international networks of great importance for science and technology development. At the same time, the project will contribute to the informational infrastructure development for the support of complex research projects.

„The research development and the access to knowledge is essential for any strong nation. It’s the first time after 1977 when the connection to international databases for the academic community from Romania has been created. Only in this way the Romanian researchers have access to specialized literature in real time. I thank professor Popa for his effort to unite the academic community around this project so relevant for our country,” said Plumb.

„It’s about a unique project at national level that will allow the access to the scientific research results published in the main flux for the research organizations,” said Georgescu.

The program „National electronic access to scientific literature for the research and education support system from Romania-ANELIS PLUS 2020” is financed through the Competitiveness Operational program 2014-2020, priority axis 1: research, technological development and innovation in the support of economic competitiveness and business development.
