Romania has to pay EUR 39 mln in costs for EU loan taken in 2009

Romania has to pay in April EUR 39 million to the European Union for interests and commission for the stand-by loan taken in 2009, according to the data of the Public Finance Ministry sent to Agerpres.

In March the state paid interests and commissions of EUR 2.3 million to the World Bank.

Overall, Romania has to pay EUR 1.26 billion to the EU and World Bank in 2017. Out of this sum, EUR 1.15 billion represent capital installment and the rest interests and commissions. Over EUR 1.25 billion will be given back to the EU and EUR 9 million to the World Bank.

In 2016, Romania paid EUR 113 million to the EU and World Bank.

During the 2009-2016 period, the total amount paid back to the three institutions exceeded EUR 4.9 billion.

Romania still has to pay over EUR 4.7 billion until 2023 to World Bank and EU. The highest amount will go to the EU, respectively EUR 3.71 billion.
