The Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) announced a second revised estimate on the EU Member States government deficit and debt figures in 2009.
According to the new revised figures for 2009, Romania recorded a government deficit of RON 42.4 billion (8.6 percent of the GDP) in circumstances in which the first estimate, published in April this year, Eurostat estimated that Romania’s government deficit in 2009 rose to RON 40.8 billion (8.3 percent of the GDP) from a revised figure of RON 29.5 billion (5.7 percent of the GDP) in 2008.
Also, Eurostat revised upwards the estimates on Romania’s governmental debt, up to RON 117.203 billion (23.9 percent of the GDP) from RON 116.526 billion (23.7 percent of the GDP) as originally announced.
