Romania will implement an IT system in 2018 for tourism activities inventory, said this Wednesday Mircea Dobre, the minister of Tourism, during debates within the economic Commission, industries and services of the Senate.
„The soft that the Special Telecommunications Service (STS) has to do will be implemented during 2018. It’s the informatics system for Romanian for tourism activities inventory. It’s a system that will help us very much to have a real statistics regarding the movement of tourists in Romania, both internally and externally. It’s a model that we’ll implement and that we took from other countries. The last country that adopted this system was Portugal, but there are still countries in Europe and not only. Regarding the personal data protection, as you know, from May 28, 2018, has to be implemented a directive for these data protection. Thus, all the accommodation units in Romania and tourism agencies need to regulated this by law. This chapter has nine pages in tourism law, ” said Dobre.
The Tourism minister also mentioned that the new informatics system will help the central authority in investments and the information will be centralized through three main modules.
„This system helps us very much to know how we’ll do investments according to the Masterplan of investments in tourism approved this summer. We don’t know currently the real movement of tourists’ destination, internally and externally. The new system doesn’t imply additional costs for hotel owners,” concluded Dobre.
