The average electricity price reached this Friday RON 344/MWh on the spot market of the stock exchange of the Romanian energy market operator OPCOM, a growth by 38 percent compared with the week before, when the electricity’ price was RON 249/MWh, according to the market operator.

The higher price is registered in the context where the wind energy, the cheapest, is on minus. Thus, the wind turbines in Romania consume energy instead of producing.

The energy production on Friday at 11:15 AM was: 30.34 percent hydro (2,452 MW),  26.31 percent coal (2,126 MW), 24.63 percent hydrocarbon (1,991 MW), 16.91 percent nuclear (1,267 MW), 1.40 percent photovoltaic (113 MW), 0.54 percent biomass (44 MW), -0.14 percent wind (-11 MW).

At the same time, Romania was registered on Friday morning as electricity importer, showing that if the energy wasn’t imported, the price on the stock exchange would be higher.

The national energy consumption at 11:15 AM was 8,400 MW.
