The Romanian Agency for Financing Rural Investments (AFIR) will launch on May 3 a call for projects for 14 sub-measures part of the National Rural Development Programme (NRDP) 2014-2020, according to AFIR data cited by the Agerpres newswire. The program regulates how local farmers can gain access to EU money for investment projects.

Overall, some EUR 680 million of nonrefundable EU money are available for local farmers, EUR 53.5 million are allocated for the Danube Delta region alone, according to the same source.

“One of the government’s priorities is to increase the absorption rate of EU funds. During this time of the year we have taken all the necessary steps to launch calls for projects for all the NRDP sub-measures available to private investors. We wanted to launch all these calls for projects targeting a wide range of investments in order to offer all those interested a chance to develop an investment in the rural area with the help of NRDP funds,” said Adrian-Ionut Chesnoiu, the head of APIR.

Those interested in accessing funds, must submit their project online, on AFIR’s website (www.afir.info). There is information available on the same website about what types of projects are eligible for financing.
