Romanian industrial production went up year-on-year by 8.2 percent in 2017 on gross series, due to the increases in the three industrial sectors, respectively the manufacturing industry (+8.9 percent), extractive industry (+5.9 percent) and the production and supply of thermic and electric energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (+1 percent), according to the data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
In December the industrial production decreased by 14.1 percent compared with the previous month on gross series, but increased as adjusted series, according to the number of working days and season by 3.7 percent. The industrial production increased year-on-year both on gross and adjusted series according to the number of working days and season, by 7.9 percent, respectively 12.2 percent.
The drop in industrial production on gross series was generated by the manufacturing industry decrease by 16.3 percent. The production and supply of electric and thermic energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning and extractive industry increased by 9, respectively 2.5 percent.
The industrial production, on adjusted series, according to the number of working days and season, was higher by 3.7 percent compared with the previous month, supported by the increase in manufacturing industry (+4.7 percent), in production and supply of electric and thermic energy, gas, hot water and air conditioning (2.4 percent) and extractive industry (+2.3 percent).
