Romanian PM Grindeanu sent a letter of condolences to his British counterpart Theresa May, expressing solidarity with the British people and condolences to the families of the victims of the London attack.
The Romanian government strongly condemns terrorism and in involved in international efforts to combat terrorism, the executive said in a press release.
“This coward act shows us, one more time, that we must be united in defending our values and principles. Romania expresses solidarity with the United Kingdom in the fight against al forms of terrorism,” Grindeanu said.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday morning that one of the two Romanians injured in the March 22 terrorist attack in London is still in a critical state. The second one, her partner, was discharged from hospital with minor injuries.
Romanian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Dan Mihalache, stated on Thursday that the surgery the Romanian victim underwent was a complex one.
On Wednesday, Westminster Bridge London was the scene of an attack that killed five and left 40 injured, including a police officer. Two Romanian citizens, a couple, were among the victims. The attacker drove into the crowd on Westminster Bridge before reaching the Houses of Parliament, where he fatally stabbed the police officer.
