Romanians spend on average RON 180 for the March 1 and 8 gifts, 60 percent of them being between RON 100 and 299, according to a study by MEDNET Marketing Research Center sent to Agerpres.
While 36.8 percent of Romanians spend between RON 100 and 199, 22.3 percent spend between RON 200 and 299.
Most Romanians choose this year the traditional martisoare worn on the chest (small accessory, usually handmade worn to mark the beginning of spring), flowers and bracelets. Romanians from urban areas will still offer jewelries, sweets or cosmetics and perfumes.
Women prefer the bracelet martisoare, while men prefer the traditional martisoare but also flowers and jewelries.
Out of the total respondents who said they want to buy gift and martisoare to celebrate the beginning of the spring, more then three quarters will offer them to their mothers (75.2 percent) and over a half to their female friends (except girlfriends) (51.1 percent).
Most men (86.7 percent) will offer gifts and martisoare to their partners, while most of the women (80.2 percent) will offers gifts and martisoare to their mothers.
In most part of Romania, women receive a martisor for March 1, but there are regions, such as Moldova where women will offer men a martisor, and half of the respondents from this region said they will offer men martisoare.
Over 20 percent of the citizens consider buying online gifts for March 1-8.
