Over 88,000 Romanian tourists went on several destinations in the country during the 1 December mini-vacation (the Romanian National Day) and spent close to EUR 9.4 million on accommodation and meals, according to an analysis of the Unions’ Federation of Romanian Tourism (FPTR).

„For the first time after 1989, the internal city-break packages were better sold than the external city-breaks, which shapes a new tendency in the Romanian tourism. Tourists benefited from tariffs up to 70 percent lower than during winter holidays and the fact that they had more free days than in the previous years. Most of the tourists went in the big cities of Romanian and the mountain resorts,” says the release of the organization.

According to the data of FPTR, the average expenses for accommodation and the included meals for the tourists who preferred the internal destinations reached approximately RON 350/ stay, an year-on-year growth by 5 percent. The supplementary expenses with the transport and the entertainment reached in average RON 300/stay  for each tourist.

The analysis shows that for the first time in the last 27 years, the internal city-breaks were better sold than the European touristic cities. Unlike the years that the Romanian tourists chose the European cities for city-breaks, in the 1 December mini-holiday of this year, approximately 39,000 Romanians chose the Romanian cities, The most searched were Alba-Iulia, Sibiu, Brasov and Cluj-Napoca.

The packages tariffs for the mini-vacation of 1st December ranged between RON 359-800/person.

The occupancy rate in  the traditional Romanian mountains resorts (Valea Prahovei, Poiana Brasov) was 80-90 percent during these days, so that over 20,000 tourists chose the mountain resorts. The tariffs in the mountain resorts during these days ranged between RON 250-500/persons for 3-day accommodation with breakfast included and a Romanian traditional dinner for December 1st.

The analysis shows that the tariffs in the rural area remained unchanged.
