Romanian unemployment rate down to 4.6 pct in December

The Romanian unemployment rate went down slightly to 4.6 pct in December compared with November, according to the National Institute of Statistics (INS).

In November the unemployment rate decreased by 0.2 percentage points compared with October, up to 4.7 percent, data adjusted seasonally.

The unemployment rate for males was by 1.8 percentage points higher than for females in December.

„The number of unemployed (15-74 years) estimated for December was 435,000 persons, a drop compared with November, as well as compared with the last year (493,000),” says INS.

For the adult persons (25-74 years) the unemployment rate was estimated to 3.7 percent for December (4.5 percent in case of males and 2.7 percent in case of females).

The number of unemployed aged between 25-74 years represented 74.6 percent of the overall unemployed estimated for December.
