Romanians built 52,206 housing units in 2016, by 5,200 more than 2015, most of them in North-Western region, according to the data published on Wednesday on the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
The analysis of the new housing developments shows the increase in share in the urban areas (53.4 percent) and the decrease in the rural area (46.6 percent) in 2016 compared with 2015.
The reappearance of the financing funds for the finished homes shows that in 2016 the number of buildings from private funds increased by 5,291 compared with 2015, while the number of houses from public funds dropped by 69.
The distribution on regions shows an increase in the number of finished houses, in the developed regions: North- West (2,491 apartments), North-East (1,262), South-East (979), West (694), Center (533) and South- Muntenia (379).
The decreases were registered in the developed regions Bucharest- Ilfov (-1,060 apartments) and South-West Oltenia (-58).
In the last quarter of 2016 the number of housing developments in the urban area dropped by 10.9 percent compared with the last quarter of 2015 and in the rural area it went up by 4.8 percent.
The distribution of regions shows a drop in the overall finished houses by 564.
