Romanian citizens can now travel without a visa to Hainan, ‘China’s Hawaii’, provided that they book their tours through travel agencies. Romania is one of the 59 countries that benefitted from the 30-day visa-free policy, which will be implemented starting May 1.

The move is seen as a way to boost the province’s tourism industry. Hainan is an island province of China and the country’s southernmost point and is roughly the size of Switzerland.

The island’s points of attraction are its tropical climate, beach resorts and the mountains. The southern city of Sanya, in particular, has many beaches that range from 22km-long Sanya Bay to crescent Yalong Bay.

Some other countries added to the list of those with visa-free access include Belgium, Brazil, Greece, Poland and Qatar.

The complete list of countries now include Albania, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil, Brunei, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Monaco, Montenegro, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, UAE, Ukraine, the U.K. and the U.S.
