Romania exported computers, electronic and optical products worth EUR 1.01 billion in the first four months of this year. This figure was 8.8 percent bigger compared with the same period of the last year, according to data of the National Institute of Statistics (INS).
Also the computers’ imports and the electronics and optical products grew by 6.1 percent during January-April up to EUR 1.87 billion.
This sector (computers, electronics, optical products) employed 31,000 persons at the end of April, according to the INS.
Last year, almost 62 percent of the Romanian households owned a computer, while 61 percent of them had Internet access.
According to INS, 66.2 percent of households that owned a computer were in rural area. In addition, in the urban area 72.2 percent of the households owned a computer at home, while in the households from the rural area this figure amounted 48.4 percent.
