Romania’s deputy PM Sevill Shhaideh, suspect in corruption case

The deputy PM Sevil Shhaideh, who is also the minister of development, is suspect in a corruption case.

Shhaideh did not disclose any information about the investigation, but she was called at Romania’s Anticorruption Directorate DNA on Friday so she could find out about the accusation.

“I am a suspect and I can’t tell you more as there is an ongoing investigation. I was informed about my status. I am using might rights and will analyze the papers with by lawyers,” the minister told journalists. She did not say if she will resign due the investigation of anti-graft prosecutors.

She has been in the government since the start of the year and was nominated as PM at the start of the year by the ruling coalition PSD-ALDE. However, president Klaus Iohannis refused to designate her PM.
