Romania’s exports to Germany up 9.8 pct in 2014

The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK Romania) made public on Thursday the current figures on trade between Romania and Germany.

According to the figures revealed by the National Statistics Institute and to AHK Romania, Germany stays also in 2014 Romania’s No. 1 trade partner. In 2014, imports from Germany totaled EUR 11.2 billion, up 8.7 percent against 2013, while exports amounted to EUR 10.1 billion, up 9.8 percent as compared to the previous year. Thus, the increase in German imports and exports was above the 5 percent increase in the total Romanian exports and imports.

According to a press release, the most important product groups that Romania imports from Germany are machinery and apparatus, transport means and materials, metals. As regards exports to Germany machinery and apparatus also rank first, followed by transport means and materials and textiles.

“For 2015 we expect as well a positive development both in terms of Romanian-German economic relations and German investment in Romania. The Romanian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as official representative of the German economy in Romania, contributes to the improvement of business and investment environments in Romania. One of our major concerns is and stays the development of the vocational education system as a dual model, aimed at providing qualified personnel in Romania,” reads a press release issued on Thursday by AHK Romania.
