The representatives of the Economy and Energy Ministry decided to set up a group to identify new legislative solutions in managing energy crisis situations during the severe winter, says the Energy Ministry in a release.

„(…) The current Government analyzes supplementary measures to manage efficiently the similar periods, forecasted by initiating some bills to ensure the security and the integrity of the Energy System in this kind of conditions. In this respect a inter-Ministry work group was created, formed by the representatives of the Economy Ministry as well as Energy Ministry, aiming to identify some Government mechanism to be activated only in crisis situations, allowing the system operator to interfere in the safety maintenance in the functionality of the National Energy System,” says the release.

From the first conclusions of Winter Energy Command referring to the functionality of the national energy system, after six days of winter with severe weather, it can be observed that within the mentioned period, Romania registered historical consumption values both for natural gas and electricity, while the system functioned at its maximum capacity.

„Thus the supplementary supply situations of over 160,000 consumers in less than 48 hours, the non-stop supply of the natural gas supply were possible by finding solutions of balancing resources and energy consumption and natural gas,” says the Economy Ministry.
