Romania’s mandatory car insurance market to have reference prices

This Thursday is the last day with regulated prices for the mandatory insurance RCA, while the reference tariffs will be enforced starting Friday, said the first vice president of the Financial Surevillance Authority (ASF), Cornel Coca Constantinescu, in a press briefing.

„Thursday it’s the last day of the ceiling for tariffs. From the discussions that we had with the Government and with the representatives of the Parliament, I think that they will be extended,” said Constantinescu.

According to the ASF representative, clients with high risk might have to pay more for the insurance.

An individual aged between 31-40 years who owns a car with a cylinder capacity up to 1,400 cubic centimeters has established a reference tariffs of RCA policy of RON 506, by 17 percent under the maximum tariff established for this category, according to the data of ASF.

One of examples presented refers to the cars used by individuals of 31-40 years, by 1,201-1,400 cubic centimeters. The indicators are the frequency of the historical damages by 4.2 percent, the average historical damage is RON 5,474.

Thus, the reference tariff for a RCA policy closed for one year for the persons aged between 31-40 year, owning a car with a cylinder capacity between 1,201-1,400, is RON 506.

For companies an examples is represented by the cars with engines of 1,401-1,600 cubic centimeters. The frequency of the damages is 9.3 percent, the average damage and big damage is RON 5,065 and an inflation of damages is 3.5 percent.

The reference risk premium is RON 575.
