Romania’s unemployment rate falls to fresh 25-year low in March

Romania’s unemployment rate fell to 3.81 percent in March, the lowest level in 25 years, more than a third of jobless persons having a low level of education, government data showed on Friday.

According to the National Agency for Workforce Occupancy (ANOFM), the unemployment rate fell 0.13 percentage point from February and 0.76 percentage point from March 2017.

At the end of March, 332,730 persons were registred at local workforce occupancy agencies across the country and 65,888 persons were receiving unemployment benefits.

Unemployment among women dropped 0.11 point from February to 3.53 percent, while the jobless rate for men declined by 0.15 point to 4.04 percent.

More than a third (35.4 percent) of all unemployed people had a low level of education (primary school or without education) and only 4.6 percent of unemployed people had university degree.
