Telecom company Romtelecom has launched Internet TV services, called Dolce Interactiv, in ten Romanian cities. The new service is available for clients who own a Romtelecom telephone line and a broadband Internet connection. The company will gradually increase the coverage for this service in Romania. Previously, Rometelecom had announced plans to enter the High Definition TV market in the next 12 months, with 8 to 10 stations to be broadcast under this plan. This is part of Romtelecom’s strategy of focusing on other services than the landline telephony, which has seen a decline in recent years. It started offering broadband Internet through ADSL technology in 2005 and then satellite digital TV (DTH -Direct to Home) in 2006.
