The Mayor of Bucharest, Gabriela Firea, has decided that schools and kindergartens will remain closed on Friday, March 23, due to the latest weather forecasts of snow and strong winds.
Firea said: “After discussions with representatives from the National Weather Authority, who told us that the weather will get worse and the snow will continue all week, as well as that the wind will be stronger on Friday, we have decided that, for the safety of our children, courses will be suspended on March 23. It is a decision for which I am taking responsibility, as I do not want to expose children to extreme weather events.”
In February, state educational institutions were closed for a whole week due to snow and cold temperatures, as a result of the Mayor’s decision.
