Start-Up Nation 2018: The types of businesses you can open through the programme

The Ministry for the Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship published the implementation procedures for the 2018 edition of the Start-Up Nation programme at the end of March.

The start date for online registration for 2018 will be communicated on the ministry’s website at least 5 days before the submission process begins. The ministry cannot estimate the total number of beneficiaries expected for 2018, as it will depend on the solicited and approved budget for each potential participant.

There are hundreds of types of businesses for which you can get state funds of up to EUR 40,000 through Start-Up Nation.  Here are some examples of activities that are eligible for financing (see the full list here):

Production:

  • Fabrics
  • Leather goods
  • Printing of newspapers or other printing activities
  • Perfumes and cosmetic products
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Software

 

Creative Industries:

  • Book, magazine and periodicals editing; other editing activities
  • Editing of videogames and other software products
  • Cinema, video and television post-production activities
  • IT consulting
  • Data processing, webpage administration and related activities;
  • News agency activities
  • Research and development in: biotechnology, natural sciences, engineering, social sciences
  • Media representation services
  • Photography activities
  • Translation services

 

Services:

  • Car repairs
  • Electronic and optic equipment repairs
  • Installation of industrial equipment and machinery
  • Waste collection, wastewater treatment and collection
  • Construction for residential and non-residential buildings
  • Hotels and other accommodation facilities; trailer parks, camping spaces and camps
  • Restaurants

 

Trade:

  • Wholesale trade of various products
  • Retailing of various products
