The tariffs at most of hotels in Romanian Black Sea resorts dropped by half from September 1, and as a result the occupancy level reached 90 percent. The number of tourists increased by 10 percent compared with the same period of 2016, according to a study by portal LitoralulRomanesc.ro.
Over 80 percent of the hotels at the seaside which cut their rates by 35-50 percent compared with the peak season from the half of August are fully booked at the beginning of September, unlike the others that kept their prices the same or introduced lower discounts and have approximately 20 percent of rooms unoccupied.
In average the occupancy level exceeds 90 percent on September 1.
The number of tourists who choose to go to the seaside at the season-end has been increasing in the past years.
According to the agency LitoralulRomanesc.ro, quoted by Profit.ro, this year it is estimated the number of tourists increased by 10 percent compared with the same period of 2016. This is due to the fact that in the last 2-3 years the weather has been good at the end of August and in the first half of September, but also due to the important discounts of most of the hotels from seaside.
These discounts after the peak-season are made in two stages: August 20-31, in average by 20 percent compared with the first half of August, and September 1-15, when prices are lower by 50 percent compared with the peak season.
„There are, however, hotels that based on the experience from the last year, when at the end of August the sales were high, decided to extend the tariffs at peak season until August 25 or had lower discounts for this end-period, generating in most of the situations, a reduction in the occupancy level,” said Ionut Nedea, general director of LitoralulRomanesc.ro.
The highest discounts were in the south part of the Romanian seaside.
