The taxation of large wealth will only affect 1-2 percent of taxpayers’, according to the Minister of Public Finances, Gheorghe Ialomitianu.

The minister also said the National Agency of Fiscal Administration (ANAF) will found more departments to verify the people with very high revenues or expenses, said Ialomitianu.

“In ANAF there is a work group to found these departments, of 30-40 people. The target group will be people with very high expenses or wealth,” he said.

Recently, the Minister of Public Finances announced the government would form a work group in order to establish procedures to tax undeclared revenues. The group will require technical assistance from the World Bank both in developing the application norms of this operation as well as in training employees who will be involved in the control activities.

At the end of last year the government decided that individuals whose real revenues surpass the declared sums with at least 50,000 lei, will pay a tax of 16 percent that is applied to the difference between the two sums.
