Teamnet head Bogdan Padiu placed under judicial control in corruption case

Prahova Court placed businessman Bogdan Padiu, head of IT company Teamnet, under judicial control, alongside Cristian Anastasescu, brother-in-law of former MP Sebastian Ghita. The two were prosecuted by the Ploiesti chapter of the National Anti-corruption Agency (DNA) in a corruption case involving Ghita, who has been missing since December.

Padiu and Anastasescu were placed under judicial control for 60 days. The two are investigated in a case investigated by DNA Ploiesti in which Sebastian Ghita is prosecuted for four counts of influence peddling, three counts of money laundering in continuous form and the creation of an organized criminal group. Padiu and Anastasescu are accused of complicity to influence peddling and money laundering, both in continuous form, and the creation of an organized criminal group.

According to a statement by the DNA, Ghita received between 2007 and 2014, for contracts awarded by institutions and public authorities to companies active in the IT sector amounts comprised between EUR 3 and EUR 10 million. The former politician received the money by means of fictitious commercial transactions via SC International SRL and SC Asesoft International SA. Until 2012, Ghita was the representative of companies SC International SRL and SC Asesoft International SA.

According to DNA prosecutors, the three created in 2010 an organized criminal group which run its activities in an organized manner until 2014. While Ghita was in charge of requesting the amounts to the IT companies that wanted to run projects funded by public funds, while Padiu and Anastasescu were in charge of collecting the money and making the operations look legal.
