The Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant’s Reactor 2 was synchronised on Sunday with Romania’s National Energy System, Nuclearelectrica announced on Monday. On Saturday it had disconnected automatically from the system due to reparation works.

“Currently, Cernavoda’s Reactor 2 functions at nominal power,” Nuclearelectrica said in a statement.

On Saturday morning CNE Cernavoda’s Reactor disconnected automatically from the network after a system after a transition occurred. “The emergence of some transitions to the classical part of the power plant and software remediation work does not involve any impact on nuclear reactor safety, operating personnel, population and the environment, and the plant’s systems are in line with the project,” the company’s officials said.

The two units in Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant provide almost 20 percent of the total electricity production of the country.

Nuclearelectrica registered a net profit of RON 84.05 million (18,7 million) in the first three months of this year, up 26 percent over the same period last year.

The company’s energy production declined by 1.3 percent in the first quarter, to 2,766 GWh, from 2,803 GWh in the first three months of last year.

The majority shareholder of the company is the Ministry of Energy, which has a share of 82.49 percent.
