Total value of BVB transactions down in 2016 by 7.5 pct to RON 11.25 bln

The total value of transactions recorded on the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB) went down by 7.5 percent in 2016 compared with 2015, reaching RON 11.25 billion on the back of a  decrease in the number of transactions, according to a release published on Tuesday by the Financial Supervision Authority (ASF).

In 2016, the number of transactions fell by approximately 3.98 percent compared with 2015. The decrease was influenced by the investors’ interest for transactions with units fund, according to ASF, and also the transactioned value dropped by approximately 46.86 percent for bonds transactions (-79.83 percent), according to News.ro.

„The most significant growth of the transactions value was registered among the state bonds transactions, whose total transactioned value went up in 2016 by approximately 150.28 percent compared with 2015,” says the release.

The growth in state bongs transactions’ value was determined by the issuing of the state bonds from August, addressed to individuals, through which the Ministry of Public Finance attracted a total amount of RON 735.2 million from population.

Moreover, shares are still the instrument type preferred by investors, with the value of traded shares reaching around RON 9.47 billion, representing 84.13 percent of the overall value transactioned by BVB in 2016. In the ranking of the most liquid companies, on the first place is Banca Transilvania, with a share of approximately 24.73 percent of the total transactioned value in 2016. On the following positions were Fondul Proprietatea, Romgaz, BRD- Groupe Societe Generale and Electrica.
