Toyota Hybrid and Lexus record 88 pct of the overall green cars deliveries in Romania in H1

In the first semester of this year the green cars segment of Romania tripled. The result is mainly due to the sales of hybrid cars under the Toyota and Lexus brands, representing 88 percent of the overall green cars deliveries in Romania. The two brands had 863 units delivered, according to the Automotive Manufacturers and Importers Association (APIA) report.

The green cars market (hybrid, hybrid plug-in and electric) increased in the first semester of the year to 977 units, from approximately 310 units in 2016, which proves the growing preference of clients for alternative drive. Of the overall green cars market, Toyota Hybrid delivered 791 units.

Yaris Hybrid was the best sold model, with 252 units, followed by Auris Hybrid with 201 units. The hybrid version of RAV4 was on the third place with 178 units and the newest hybrid model of the brand, Toyota C-HR, is on the fourth place, registering 158 units.

The best sold model of Lexus in the same period was Lexus RX, with 46 units, followed by Lexus NX with 22  units.

Toyota is the biggest player in the hybrid cars segmet, with over 10 million units sold worldwide.
