Transelectrica completes modernization of Tihau electric station, following RON 9.8 mln investment

Transelectrica has completed the modernization of the Tihau electric station which supplies Northern Transylvania, following an investment of RON 9.8 million, the company announced this Friday.

“The modernization works were necessary to eliminate the new standards and norms of projection and execution, especially of the ones regarding the reliability and the flaws elimination time, the improvement of exploitation conditions and exploitation and maintenance expenses reduction, by assembling some modern equipments and adapting some constructive solutions to the current technologies,” says Transelectrica.

The Transelectrica officials say that the 220/110kV station has as main functions the transmission of the necessary power to the defective area of Northern Transylvania, which currently has a limited transport network for the generation of the power in this area.

The modernization process was made in two stages, the first one being the modernization of the control-protection system, during 2014-2015, as a result of the contract signed with Efacec, worth RON 3.5 million and the second one was the modernization of main circuits during 2015-2017, as a result of the contract signed with Siemens-Energobit, worth RON 6.3 million.

Tranelectrica is the transport and system operator from Romania that manages, operates, maintains and upgrades the transport network which comprises 81 electric stations.
