Transport minister Lucian Sova said on Wednesday that it is inconceivable for him that the railway connection between Otopeni and Bucharest will not be completed by 2020, in time for the European Football Championship.
Sova said: “The feasibility study on the upgrade and expansion of the railway is on the Public Acquisitions System today. We’ll go through the legal procedures. I’ve asked the infrastructure company to look carefully at the possibility of intervening with own resources in developing the construction site and achieve this objective.”
At Euro 2020, Romania will host four matches on National Arena – three in the group stages and one in the round of 16.
