Two Romanian SMEs, Baia Mare-based Indeco Soft and SC Vitality Media, from Bucharest, passed the selection alongside other 178 companies and will receive funding through the European Union’s Horizon 2020 program.
A total of 178 projects will each receive EUR 50,000 to fund feasibility studies relating to the introduction of innovative products to the market. The results of the selection were announced by the European Commission on 6 April.
Alongside funding the feasibility studies, the SMEs selected can benefit from a maximum of three days of free advise during three days.
The winning programs are: Greentop, to be implemented by Indeco Soft, will process data provided for free by the European Space Agency for apps to be used in the fields of forestry, landscaping or agriculture. The second project, Telly, coordinated by Vitality Media, has as an objective the creation of new ways of obtaining income for TV and radio stations, sports clubs, as well as the possibility to interact in real time with the audience and the fans.
By 15 February, the deadline, 2,111 projects were submitted. Most of the proposals selected are in the field of IT and communication (36), followed by projects in the fields of environment protection (31) and transports (28). Countries with most SMEs selected are Italy (37), Spain (33), Great Britain (16). Since the launch of the program, in 2014, 2,208 SMEs were selected.
