Two Romanians injured in London terrorist attack

The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) said Wednesday evening that two Romanian citizens have been injured during the terrorist attack that took place near the Parliament building in the center of London.

“From the latest information obtained by Romanian authorities, two Romanian citizens that were injured have been identified. They were transported to hospitals in the area to receive medical care,” said the MAE, which expressed its condolences for the people that were killed in the attack.

UPDATE: 

The Romanian ambassador to the UK, Dan Mihalache, said that the Romanians hurt in the attack were tourists. A Romanian man was released from hospital, while a Romanian woman is seriously injured.

According to Mihalache, the woman was hit by the car of the attacker and fell in the Thames River, from where she was recovered by rescue units.

According to British authorities, four people have died, including the attacker and a policeman, while at least 40 people were injured.

The attacker ploughed into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge before crashing into the railing of the Houses of Parliament and exiting the car to continue the attack. Then, the attacker stabbed one of the armed officers protecting parliament, who has died, according to TheGuardian.com.

“This is a day we’ve planned for but hoped would never happen, sadly it’s now a reality,” said assistant commissioner, Mark Rowley, head of counterterrorism.

“The attacker has two knives and was stabbing the officer. Then, shots rang out and the attacker fell to the floor,” said Tony Davis, a coach for the British Lionhearts, the British boxing team.
