The Chief Executive Officer of Uber Technologies, Dara Khosrowshahi, said on Tuesday that he believes the commercialisation of the Uber Air flying taxi service may become a reality within five to ten years, according to Reuters.
Khosrowshahi said at an investor forum in Tokyo that flying vehicles will eventually become an affordable method of mass transportation.
Ride-sharing companies like Uber are putting pressure on Japanese regulators to ease the stringent rules governing the taxi industry in the country.
Plans for flying taxi services have already been discussed in places like Paris and Dubai, based on drones that can carry humans, but they have not yet been implemented.
