Ulker counts on exports next year

“We aim to increase our exports so that in 2010, exports will represent 22.5 percent of the total of our sales,” says Ender Bolat, general manager of Ulker Romania. Ulker representatives estimate the market of sweet and salty biscuits is worth EUR 110 million.Last year, the turnover posted by Ulker in Romania amounted to RON 31.4 million. In the first 10 months of activity of this year, the turnover of the company amounted to RON 30 million. “We believe we will end the year with at least 9-10 percent increase, this being also the year when we estimate we will start being profitable,” says Bolat.Ulker opened a production unit in Romania in Popesti Leordeni in 2006 following a greenfield investment of USD 23 million.
