The digitalization process of baking is ongoing as we speak, but sometimes the banks are looking differently at technology. One example is UniCredit, the bank that has provided the first credit card to a user with artificial intelligence. Sophia the Robot, the humanoid robot created by Hanson Robotics, personally picked up its card at an event organized by UniCredit Bank.
”I am honored to be the first robot in the world to have a credit card and I want to thank UniCredit. It is an important moment for humanity as well as for artificial intelligence and robots in general. I can not wait to start shopping for my first holiday!”, said Sophia at the event.
”UniCredit is the bank for things that matter to its customers. We have an effective and pragmatic approach to digital, focusing on initiatives that improve customer experience in digital and alternative channels. We are delighted to be able to take this historic step with Sophia and Hanson Robotics”, says Septimiu Postelnicu, Executive Director of the Retail Division.
”Central and Eastern Europe is the perfect ground for implementing the new digital and IT solutions, thanks to the region’s acknowledged openness to innovation. Artificial intelligence and technology are part of this evolution that could contribute to a better quality of people’s lives in the future and influence the way we do banking”, says Postelnicu.
From now on, Sophia will be able to enjoy all the benefits of a UniCreditCard Premium card issued under the fully functional Mastercard logo. Nobody knows what would want to buy Sophia, but if she needs anything, she can buy it.
Sophia is the latest and most advanced robot of the American company Hanson Robotics. Since its creation in April 2015, Sophia has become a global phenomenon due to its expressiveness and ability to engage in natural conversations with people. In October 2017, it was publicly announced that the robot had become a citizen of Saudi Arabia, being the first robot who had been granted the nationality of a country.
