The cable communications operator UPC gained 52,700 clients in 2016 to 1.2 million and 146,00 subscriptions, reaching over 2.73 million subscriptions overall (TV, internet and fix phone), while the internet was the main growth engine, said Robert Redeleanu, UPC Romania and Hungary head.
He added that he doesn’t have plans on entering the mobile phone area, but the maintenance of revenues growth and the coverage area of digital services that were available in over 2.8 million households in 2016.
„The year 2016 was an extraordinary good one for UPC in Romania if we look at the financial indicators, the number of covered households and growth on all business segments. It’s a performance supported by the good economy in 2016 and these are our expectations for 2017, also. From the strategic point of view, there is no important change, we continue to expand the network and the services, the economic context should also help the business and then the expectations would be to maintain the growth trend. We invest annually around EUR 50 million, respectively around 30 percent of our total turnover,” said Redeleanu.
In one year the coverage area of digital services went up by 10 percent, representing 258,600 new households, compared with 2015. At the end of 2016, the digital services of UPC were available for 2.8 million households from Romania.
The net revenues of UPC Romania went up also in 2016, in RON the annual growth of UPC revenues was 8.8 percent to RON 689.3 million.
