UPC Romania’s (part of Liberty Global) investments in digital infrastructure and innovation have generated EUR 309 million worth of social benefits in the last 4 years, due to the impact of higher internet speeds (EUR 196 million), high productivity (EUR 95 million) and prices competition (EUR 18 million), according to Oxera Consulting.
The British consultancy company Oxera Consulting analyzed UPC’s infrastructure and investments in high speed internet segment during 2013- end of Q1 2017 in Romania and all the European countries where Liberty Global operates.
The level of the total economic impact is estimated at EUR 315 million, as a result of the UPC Romania’s benefits for clients during 2013- Q1 2017. UPC Romania has made important investments of approximately EUR 200 million in digital services infrastructure.
Robert Redeleanu, CEO UPC Romania and UPC Hungary, said: „In the last years the growth was made in an accelerated trends, in average by 10 percent every year and today all the clients in our network benefit from high UPC internet speeds. Our objective for the following years is to still supply internet at the highest speeds to our clients and high quality services.”
In Europe, Liberty Global’s investments in broadband during 2013- Q1 2017 generated social benefits of EUR 7 billion.
