Vodafone Romania revenues up 4.2 pct to EUR 173.9 mln by June 30 on growing customer base

Vodafone Romania registered 9.1 million users of mobile services, voice and m2m, in June 30, a growth of 357,691 (available SIMs) compared with the similar period of the last year. Out of the total number, 8.47 million are users of mobile services and the revenue grew by 4.2 percent to EUR 173.9 million in the April 1 -June 30 period, compared with the same period of 2015.

The financial results are for the first quarter of the financial year 2016-2017.

„The results registered in Q2 confirms the interest of our customers for the smartphones data usage, with an increase of the penetration rate of smartphones that was reflected in a data traffic growth with more than 100 percent compared with the similar period of the last year,” says Ravinder Takkar, CEO of Vodafone Romania.

The average revenue per user (ARPU mobile) reached EUR 6.1 in the three months closed at June 30. At the mentioned date, the services subscribers represented 41 percent from the customers database and the prepaid users 59 percent. The number of prepaid users decreased by 0.3 percentage points compared with Q1.

According to the company, the mobile data usage in the Q2 was 15.480 TB, a growth of 105.3 percent compared with the same period of the last year. This generated an increasing penetration rate of smartphones based on users, of 6.4 percentage points in Q2, compared with the same period of 2015.
