The Austrian direct investments in Romania have reached near EUR 9 billion in 2016, being ranked among the three largest generators of FDI in the country.
According to the country’s official trade promotion organization, Advantage Austria, there are approximately 1,500 active Austrian investors in Romania and over 7,200 companies with Austrian capital.
The companies active in various sectors such as oil, banking and insurance have created more than 100,000 jobs in Romania.
The Austrian exports to Romania are worth for EUR 2.08 billion and following an ever increasing trend. If in 2015 the Austrian exports to Romania increased by 6.0 percent, in 2016 the numbers rose by 4.1 percent.
“Currently, our top priorities lie in the development of a healthy business climate and a comprehensive educational system,” said Gerd Bommer, the commercial counsellor of the Austrian Embassy, who is among the speakers of the Country Focus Community Forum, which takes place between June 13-14 in Bucharest.
The Austrian investment community will have its own panel in the first day of the forum.
The event will be attended by high-level executives, entrepreneurs, officials and investors from the strongest foreign communities in Romania.
