The economic counselor of PM Dacian Ciolos, Dragos Pislaru, has been appointed Monday as the new minister of labor, following the resignation of Ana Costea on Friday.

President Klaus Iohannis has already approved the change in government.

Pislaru has been working as counselor in the Ciolos government since December 2015.

The new minister has an extensive experience in the consulting sector. He has been general manager of GEA Strategy & Consulting for nine years.

He was also program director at the first tech accelerator with equity investment in Romania called RICAP – Innovation from lab to market, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Pislaru has been assistant professor at the Academy of Economic Studies between 1998 and 2007.

The new minister of labor was due to meet with Ciolos and Iohannis on Monday afternoon, according to local media reports.

The former minister of labor has resigned due to a controversial bill regarding the payment of public sector workers.

The government was supposed to issue a decision last week, but the bill was retracted with officials at Palatul Victoria saying that a new one is in the works.
