The Romanian locality of Bogata, in Mures County, became an internet sensation after US rapper Snoop Dogg, who is on tour in Bogota, Colombia, posted a selfie on Instagram, but checked in the village in northern Romania.

Two days after the artist’s post, a new website called visitbogata.com emerged, which provides key info for anybody looking to book a trip in this locality.

Bogata is dubbed as the “best place for chillin’ in Romania”.

“With only 2000 inhabitants, the commune, situated at approx. 5.5 hour-drive from Bucharest, is the perfect location for a relaxing vacation. Close to Cluj-Napoca, Mediaș, Sighișoara and Târgu Mureș, Bogata is the perfect place to be if you want to relax in nature and take in all it has to offer.

Either you plan a longer vacation in the area, or a short break from the hustle and bustle of the city, Bogata awaits you. Bring your tent, sleeping bag, comfortable shoes and get ready for the chilliest weekend you could imagine”, according to the website, which was launched by Kinecto agency.

Some Romanians event took to Instagram and posted pictures with the hashtag #visitbogata.

The authors of the site point out that the internet speed in Bogata is not that high, but it was just fine to upload a selfie. They were referring to an older statement by US senator Bernie Sanders, who said it was unacceptable that Bucharest had faster internet than most Americans.
